Sessions
Training sessions are private, one-on-one, and designed to build behaviors and address specific issues by creating a communication and behavioral foundation, all of which build upon the previous. Sessions typically last an hour and a half and take place at the student’s residence or in public spaces (parks, stores, events, etc). Students are responsible for ensuring they are ready for each session by arriving on time, with reinforcement for their dog, and proper management and training equipment.
All sessions must be completed within 3 months after the first session of your program.
Students
Dog training is a comprehensive process that requires commitment, patience, consistent routines, lifestyle adjustments, and homework, which includes but not limited to practicing concepts, venturing to new places when applicable, and completing the associated reading assigned through DYAD Academy. Those who do not follow the teachings will not see much, if any, progress with their dog. Look, life is busy—as the owner of DYAD, co-owner of Le Pawsh, and a father, I completely understand this. However, this requires a change in how you interact and live with your dog—if this weren’t true, you wouldn’t be here. Furthermore, there is only so much information and practice that can be covered in the span of a session. This holds particularly true for reactivity and behavioral modification. It will be up to you to practice, continue, and proof all the skills learned. Think of this like hiring a personal trainer. If you don’t put in the work and continue to eat as if we have free healthcare, you won’t see the results.
Due to the consistency that is required in dog training, all regular handlers (family, roommates, etc.) are expected to attend sessions. Backtracking through previously covered topics and lessons due to a handler’s previous absence may detract from or delay progress.
DYAD teaches students to honor the dog as a dog—not a ‘fur baby.’ The communication, reinforcement, and enforcement techniques follow this, and it is up to you to disclose anything you’re uncomfortable with, clearly and upfront. We will never ask you to do anything that could harm you or your dog or that you are against. Though I hope to push you and your dog’s comfort levels through training. This field, and dogs in general, are grossly misunderstood, and it is job to guide you through.
Although not required, all students are highly encouraged to complete the courses within DYAD Academy. These accompany training packages and serve to expand your knowledge and understanding of our canine companions.
Participating in training with another dog trainer during the length of your time training with DYAD is prohibited.
All persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Scheduling & Cancellations
Training sessions must be scheduled in advance and may be cancelled or rescheduled up to 24 hours in advance. Cancellations and reschedules within 24 hours, as well as no-shows, may result in forfeited sessions or additional fees. Arriving more than 15 minutes late to a scheduled training session may result in a no-show or a reduction in the overall session time.
Payment
All payments are due up front, at the time of the first scheduled session. Accepted payment methods include cash, checks, Venmo, and PayPal. Payments are non-refundable.
Dog Health & Behavior Disclosure
Dogs must be in good health and current on core vaccines (rabies and DHPP). Dogs that are sick or injured should not participate in training sessions. For DYAD to help to the fullest extent, and for safety reasons, all relevant bite history and aggression must be disclosed.

Training Environment
Home-based sessions serve to address fundamental lifestyle changes and habits that may hinder progress or contribute to unhealthy behaviors. It is essential to limit distractions, such as other pets, toys, visitors, etc, unless instructed by your trainer.
Media Use
Your trainer may document sessions (including video and photos) for educational and promotional purposes. You may opt out by notifying us in writing or during your consultation.
Legal & Safety
All clients must sign the Training Agreement Contract. Your trainer reserves the right to end any session or program if the dog or handler creates a safety risk. This also extends to threats, abuse, and disrespect made by you, or anyone in your party or household, towards the trainer, your dog, or others.
